April 22, Earth Day celebrates 50 years. However, Earth Day 2020 will be markedly different than years past given the COVID-19 pandemic! With lockdowns and quarantines in place, there will be no celebrations or climate protests in the streets. But fear not, there will be countless virtual and digital events around the globe!
Participating in these virtual events can still allow your voice to be heard for a new beginning for the planet 🙂
“Thanks to technology, Earth Day will be going digital. People will have to engage in meaningful and impactful conversations about the environment via the internet. We can all participate from home while social distancing and protesting virtually. You can create a poster and share it on social media with hashtags #EarthDayNetwork; attending a virtual presentation organized by students, universities and other leaders and more.”
As much as the Holidays are a wonderful time of year, sadly they can be incredibly wasteful too. However, there are little things you can do to make your Holiday a bit “greener”.
Recycling your wrapping paper and Christmas cards can give you some eco warm and fuzzies. But millions of tons of Christmas cards and wrapping paper can wind up in landfills if they are infused with glitter which is then REJECTED for recycling. Bummer!!
Perhaps get more creative and opt for seeded, plantable wrapping paper and Xmas cards that grow!
I came across a company called Botanical Paperworks. It’s a bounty of Seeded Paper that Grows. Boy did I hit the proverbial Motherlode!!
They have all kinds of seeded promotional items for all kinds of events and occasions. From greeting cards, wedding invites etc., they have an entire Green Gifts Guide with “Eco-Friendly, Plantable Gifts for All Occasions”. All I can say is yay!!

Certified B Corps are not just about shareholders. They embrace a purpose beyond just earning money. What a concept?
You may not be overly familiar with the term “Greenwashing”. In fact you may not be familiar with it at all.
However, if you promote, market or make any advertising claims about your products or services being “sustainable” “green” or “eco-friendly” then you should understand the importance of this term. And more so, the negative impact it could have on your business if the claims are false!
What Greenwashing Is…
Greenwashing is in essence the practice of making unsubstantiated or misleading claims about the actual environmental benefits of a product, service, technology or company. And with the FTC cracking down on such deceptive claims, doing so could land you and your biz in deep doo doo!
“Recent polls reflect that 78% of consumers would boycott a Greenwashed product”
