If you’re considering running and ad in a publication, this will help with what info would be required:
• Name/type of publication – newspaper, magazine, trade publication, visitor’s guide etc.
• Ad sizing – vertical or horizontal – and specs (your ad rep will have this info)
• Will the ad be color or black and white?
• Deadline date for the ad

The ad itself – what you’d want to include so the design may be created:
• Your business logo
• A clear headline/message or offer you want to promote
• Supporting text and images/photos
• Your contact, location and website info
• Promo code (optional)

Note: Less is more when it comes to an effective ad design. Too much clutter and your message gets lost!

Many publications now offer digital versions of their publications for viewing on iPads, tablets and other mobile devices. If this is an option, you may also want to place your ad in the digital version too. It could further expand your reach. Do note: their are different ad specifications for digital publications.

Know your audience…
An important note to keep in mind is that not everyone prefers to use a digital device for viewing publications. Imagine a Doctor’s office without any magazines to leaf through? People still love the tangible feeling of printed materials within there hands! So do not exclude or alienate these folks from your customer base or audience.
