creative intervention for left-brain addictions

graphic designer & artist

As an artist with a passion for diverse landscapes, my travels have taken me to some beautiful places within the Southwest. San Diego, CA - filled with warm sunny beaches to Albuquerque, NM "the Land of Enchantment" and now to Golden, CO, butt up against the foothills - the gateway to the High Country of the Rocky Mountains. It's been quite an interesting journey. After spending several incredible years in New Mexico, with much time in Santa Fe and Taos where pretty much everything is art and artisans, Colorado came as a bit of a creative shock. Comparatively speaking, I found the creativity here to be rather sterile. With a state steeped in Technology, I suppose that makes sense - and most of the design I saw reflected that.

carving my creative niche, making a difference

With a background in Fine Art and a traditional Graphic Design background, I love to infuse textures and colors into design to give them depth whenever possible. For me, creativity and the design process is not about being on auto-pilot. These days many of us spend too much time in our left-brain of over analysis rather than in our right-brain of creativity - hence my tagline of "creative intervention for left-brain addictions." Personally, Graphic Design is becoming more about making a difference - connecting with professionals and businesses who embrace that "green", "sustainability" and the "environment" are not merely buzz words in a trend but, truly resonate with the
advancement of their public image as well as social responsibility with their brand.
No, suffice to say the Corporate world is not for me, design or otherwise!

beyond the computer - and YES, Green is in!

Yup - green is in as is being grateful and treating others with respect including the Earth and its critters too! Leaving a minimal carbon footprint ranks pretty high on my "to-do" list. Green companies are popping up everywhere so beware of greenwashing! Hence the inclusion of my weekly GREEN TIP. Mother Nature is my friend along with peaceful practices such as yoga and meditation to recharge. Snowboarding is my passion and the winter months bring me an incredible amount of joy! Then again, sometimes it's all about just getting outside and just "being" instead of running around and always "doing".

Be kind to the Environment today and everyday!
